Usher/U2 Mash up "(With or) Without You"

So one day, I was listening to the Usher song "Without You" and thought to myself, that sounds a lot like U2's "With or Without You". Then I thought, that would be neat to mash up the two songs. And THEN I thought, I should get my buds in Heavens to Betsy to help me out.

And so this sweet little video/track was born. I love collaborating with these guys and the video was so fun to shoot (party scene is from my birthday)! If you like the video share it with someone. Let's get this thing VIRAL!

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day!!

All the love,

C

Rihanna Cover- "Complicated"

So after binge-playing this Rihanna song I decided I would like to do my own version! I got my very talented and good friend Mark Campbell to help me out and I think it turned out pretty great.

Hope you guys enjoy it!!

Broke

Yep, I said it... broke. Let's just be honest here, this summer was not necessarily my finest moment financially, or emotionally. The reality of my life wasn't much like the adventure I had pictured when I thought of going out and "chasing my dreams". Nope. I was broke- working in a part-time and less-than fulfilling job (with a college degree I might add), living with my parents, 24 years old and not much to validate my dream. Not to mention my car had broken down.

It was then that I was sitting in my parents kitchen, post cry-sesh and pre ice cream binge, that I wrote this oddly light-hearted song. It's the easiest song I've ever written mostly because it's a joke. But I liked it nonetheless. So I'm letting you hear it :). And just to clarify- after working 2 jobs AND doing music the last few months, I am no longer broke. In fact I'm actually going to be able to start on another EP.  I can't say much else but just know that I'm beyond excited about it.

So until then, let this little demo curb your appetite for new music.

All the love,

Remembering

I was in geography class, 9th grade in a small school in Fort Worth, TX when I heard. We sat four to a table, divided across the classroom but when it happened we gathered as close as we could and just sat, listening to the radio in shock. I remember not having a clue as to why, I didn't really know the US even had enemies. Along with the many lives, there was an innocence that was lost that day.

It's been ten years and we are reminded of that altering tragedy on September 11th and we are called to live in remembrance of those victims. The way we choose to live is how we honor those that are no longer with us. It's easy to forget, but on days like this I want to reiterate the ever constant truth- our time is so very precious, and fragile are the moments we hold. Today, I sat in church and my pastor said, "We do not get to choose how we die, but we DO get to choose how we live."

As we know, we don't have control over really anything in life, but we do have freewill. We have the choice to love, we have the choice to forgive, we have the choice to be faithful. These choices we make in our lives dictate our circumstance and those around us. These choices dictate the state of our hearts- out of which everything flows. (Proverbs 4:23)

I have absolutely no idea how my life will turn out, where I will be, or what I will be doing. But honestly, none of that matters. Who I become is determined by the choices I make and I want to be remembered as someone who loved freely, someone who forgave unconditionally, and lived faithfully.

How do you want to be remembered?

All the love,

C

Summer Song Series (Week 7- "Something Right")

Tis a bitter sweet end to the summer song series, but alas, here we are. This last song is pretty special, it's the only duet I've written so far and Ben Backus and I just happened upon it. And as the song says, there is just something right about it all... the lyrics and melody just go. Ya know?

So here's to the end of the series, and the spark of a new project (I definitely material to choose and build from). Thanks again for listening and I hope this song gives you a little break from your case of the Mondays!

All the love,

Truth.

 Today's inspiration. Be brave.

I'm blonder? No, more blonde.

 WHOOPSIIIEEEE..... :)

Summer Song Series (Week 6- "Fight")

Hitting y'all with a tune on a Monday this week!

Wrote this one with the coolest ginger I know- Sam Tinnesz, who also wrote 2 songs on my first EP with me! Not only is he a great writer, he also plays guitar for a band called Mikeschair. You may have heard a couple of their songs on the airwaves... such an inspiring band and I'm definitely blessed to not only work with him, but call him a friend!

Thanks again for continually coming back to listen to these demos! This series is almost up and then its back to the drawing board for my next project.

All the love,

C
